do y’all run matches under water after you blow them out, but before you throw them in the trash?  or spit on them?

I do.  always have.  I learned it from my mother.

she swore that if you didn’t, the hot match might ignite the contents of the trash can.  I suspect that she and I are the only two people on earth who do this however.
